What Landcare area do I look after?
In my role as Landcare Facilitator for the Landcare groups of Far East Gippsland, I look after the Landcare community from Orbost and surrounds, eastward as far as Genoa. In total I support 6 Landcare groups in the Far East.
Where do I live?
I live in the beautiful seaside town of Lakes Entrance, I commute to work at Orbost daily.
What is my Background?
I completed my studies in Natural Resource Management in 2001. Following this I was employed at Healesville Sanctuary on the Horticulture team for a total of 8 months. I then worked casually for both an environmental services company as a team leader doing riparian/habitat restoration works as well as a nursery hand in an indigenous plant nursery, both in the Yarra Valley. In 2003 I moved to Bombala in NSW and worked for a year as the Snowy River Interstate Landcare coordinator. I transferred to Orbost to be closer to friends and family and take up the position as Far East Landcare facilitator, I commenced in the position as Far East Landcare facilitator on Monday the 30th of August 2004.
My Interests & Hobbies are?
Yoga, native plants, gardening and mosaics.
My passion for Landcare is?
I am passionate about Landcare because it is a grass roots organisation that promotes sustainable landuse practices and aims to put money into activities with positive environmental outcomes for all the community to benefit from.
My aspirations for Landcare in 2005 are:
Assisting the community to get good Natural Resource Management outcomes through promoting funding opportunities and raising the awareness of issues relevant to the local area.
